The dream was the same every time, without fail.  It was night; the sky was cloudless and every star seemed to twinkle and wink at you.  The moonlight filtered down, casting everything in a pretty, blueish glow.  The flowers bowed their heads as you walked past, making your way to the large white gazebo in the middle.  The wind breezed past, cool and casual, causing tiny waves on the lake beyond the gazebo to roll back and forth across the surface.  Everything was beautiful.

    And the best part?

Standing in the middle was the gazebo, waiting for you, was your soulmate.

“Koushi!” you called out, bounding up the the few steps that surrounded the gazebo to meet him.  He reached out, wrapping his arms around you in the tender embrace you earned for day and night.  He lifted you off the ground, spinning you in circles by your waist.

“I thought you weren’t coming,” he whispered, pulling you close again.

“Work was extra strenuous today,” you muttered, inhaling the sweet, clean sent on his clothes.  “And then the train was delayed and—”

“Say no more.  Shall we sit?”

The two of you sat on the top step, side by side, and stared out at the lake while you told each other about your day.  It was hard, though.  In a world where when you and your soulmate are both asleep, you meet in a magical dream world.  However, the only proper nouns you could tell each other were your first names.  No cities, or schools, or restaurants.  That would make finding each other way too easy, and where’s the fun in that?

So, you settled for telling each other about your day in pronouns.  If you slipped and said something that would give you away, per se, the word would disappear and fall on deaf ears.  Even you couldn’t hear yourself when you accidentally said “Karasuno” instead of “my school.”

“Oops, my bad,” you chuckled.  “Anyway, there’s this first year at my school and he’s so rambunctious and crazy.  The saying is true.”

“And which saying is that, [Name]?” Sugawara asked, a smile teasing his lips.  He leaned back, bracing his two arms behind him, and kicked out his feet, crossing his ankles together.

“That energy is wasted on the youth!” you cried, throwing your hands up.  You sighed, crossing your arms in front of you.  “Just watching this kid makes me tired!”

Sugawara chuckled, bring a hand up to cover his laugh.  “You know, now that I think about it, there’s a kid like that at my school, too,” he mentioned.  “Maybe they’re destined for each other.”

    “Maybe,” you laughed.

You continued to talk, about school and work and random things and volleyball, and you were about to say goodbye and start the next day when—

    “Wakey, wakey!

You jolted awake, brutally ripped from your dream world, nearly rolling out of bed and onto the hard wood floor.  The curtains in your room had been thrown open and the sunlight was streaming in full force.

“Rinko?” you muttered, throwing a hand up to block the sun.  You picked up your phone from your side table (after fumbling around with one hand and knocking things off), and checked the date.  “Rinko,” you repeated.  “It’s Saturday.”

“I know!  And we’re gonna go watch the volleyball team practice!” your best friend she cheered, dragging you out of bed.  She tossed clothes in your direction and urged you to get dressed.

“Is this about that silly crush of yours?” you asked, tying your shoelaces.

Rinko pouted, crossing her arms.  “No.”  You stared at her, tilting your head in a “how dare you lie.”  Rinko’s resolve soon melted.  “Okay, yes!  It is!  But it's not a crush!  He’s my soulmate!”

“And you haven’t introduced yourself to him in person yet?”

Rinko kept silent.  Despite her happy-go-lucky attitude most of the time, Rinko was always silent about her soulmate.  All you knew, and all she cared to tell you, was that he was captain of the Karasuno volleyball team.  The walk to school was quick and soon you were outside the doors.  However, once you arrived, Rinko developed a severe case of cold feet.  “M-Maybe he’s too busy?  You know, [Name]?  Your soulmate plays volleyball, right?  He’s busy, right?”

“Rinko," you began, turning your back to the building, "I swear if you don’t march in there yourself I will rip open those doors and—”

Something, or someone, bumped into you from behind, causing you to stumble forward.  Whoever it was caught you by your shoulders to ensure you didn’t fall face first into the concrete.  At first, you figured it was that energetic first year, Hinata something or other.  He’d proven himself on many occasions to be an absolute klutz, and because of your current sharpness with Rinko, you were prepared to turn around and snap.

However, the hands didn’t let go.  You heard a sharp gasp, and the hands on your shoulders began to tremble lightly.  When you heard his voice call out your name, you could hardly believe your ears.  All of your anger melted away.  It was happening.  Finally, after four years of getting to know each other via pronouns. Now, you could finally tell him the name of your favorite candy shop, not “The Place Where They Have a Candy Bag Special Named After Me My Visits Are So Frequent.”

    “[Name]?”

Slowly, you turned around, the biggest smile plastered against your face.  You fell into his arms like you'd always imagined doing once you met him in person.  His smelled even sweeter in person.  He hugged you tight, and you could hear his heartbeat beneath his chest.

“It really is you, isn’t it, [Name]?” he breathed.

“Who else would it be?”  you replied, pulling back and planting a gentle kiss on his cheek.  “Now, you really are stuck with me.”

haha let's hope this isn't as bad as I think it is xp

The whole dream thing is a working idea! I like it! And the concept of "not being possible to use the names of the things" hits the spot too, I liked it when it was introduced. The scene in the dream world was so gentle and happy :3 The conversations went mostly smoothly, only the last one between the reader and Koushi could have been more interesting. I loved the little things that made the scenes more easy to grasp, like “The Place Where They Have a Candy Bag Special Named After Me My Visits Are So Frequent.” xD It was something funny and human like and sweet~
